Hillary Clinton's Secrecy

President George W. Bush has been accused of having the most secret administration in American history. Hillary Clinton has even gotten into the act and criticized the President for his secrecy. Such a charge seems laughable coming from her, given the past actions of both herself and her husband.

Hillary, now that she is running for president, contends that she has experience that others do not possess. Specifically, she says that her time as the First Lady of Arkansas and of America allowed her to be intimately involved in the policy making decisions of her husband. If this were true there would be extensive evidence of her involvement. There would be, and are, documents proving this, both in Arkansas and in the Clinton Presidential Library.

There is just one problem. The Clintons will not release any documents detailing Hillary's involvement, or lack thereof, in the executive decisions of her husband. So either the Hillary wasn't as involved as she says she was or the documents are not flattering.

I personally think it is the later. The two public examples of Hillary Clinton taking the lead in policy matters were her attempt to improve education in Arkansas and her attempt to nationalize health care when her husband was president. Both were unmitigated disasters. By the time Hillary Clinton moved to the White House with her husband in 1993, Arkansas was still one of the fifth worst states for education and once people realized that the federal government would be in charge of their health and well-being they quickly rejected the idea.

Hillary Clinton says that she has the experience to lead this country, but she cannot produce any evidence of that claim. A start would be releasing the documents that detail her involvement in her husband's administrations. Everybody wants open government. But those who criticize others shouldn't throw stones from their glass houses.
