Reason 14,287 No One Takes the U.N. Seriously
For years now the Muslim government of the African nation of Sudan has terrorized and slaughtered the Sudanese Christian minority. The death and destruction is well known as the Islamic government tries to impose its religion by force upon those who want to live in peace.
The United States and a handful of Western governments have tried to get the United Nations to intervene. Proposals have been introduced, much debate has occurred, but like some many problems the U.N. talks about, nothing has bee done about it. No troops, humanitarian aid or any significant assistance from the U.N. has been forthcoming.
Naive politicians and celebrities believe that the United Nations has the moral strength, courage, and convictions to do what it right and de-legitimize the Sudanese government and use force to destroy the Islamic threat of the Muslim government of Sudan. But those of us who remember the United Nations lack of response to the genocide in Rwanda, the lack of will to hold Iraq to account, and it inability to recognize the danger Islamic terrorism poses to the free world, know not to expect much from the United Nations, other than to find a way to blame the world's problems on America.
True to form the United Nations has given the reasons it thinks the Darfur conflict is ongoing.
So what does it believe is the cause of the genocide in Darfur?
Islamic fundamentalism? - No
Lack of support from other countries? - Nope
Its climate change. That's right, the United Nations believes that the reason the Muslim government of Sudan is slaughtering thousands of innocents is because the Earth has possibly warmed slightly over the last ten years.
If the United Nations ever wants to be taken seriously, it needs to stop making excuses for genocide and focus on the worldwide threat of Islamic fundamentalism.
